Dr. Duncan completed High School in Belfast, North Ireland in 1971 and was accepted
in Medical School at Queens University Belfast, graduating with MB BCh BAO in 1977.
After internship and six months of obstetrics training he then immigrated to British
Columbia in January 1979 and was a Family Physician for more than three and half
years.
In 1982 he entered the Anesthesiology Residency Program in Calgary Alberta, and
completed his FRCP in 1986. He was a Consultant Anesthesiologist in the Calgary
General Hospital for eighteen months during which time he was a Clinical Assistant
Professor in Anesthesiology. This work involved ICU work and teaching of students,
residents and other health care professionals.
In 1987, Dr Duncan returned to British Columbia and was a consultant Anesthesiologist
at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. During his career at VGH he was president of Medical
Staff, Chief of Anesthesiology and Chief of Surgery. He started work at Okanagan Heath Surgical Centre in 2004.
