Do no eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery.
However, if your surgery is scheduled for after 1 pm, you can drink only water,
apple juice or black tea with sugar or coffee with sugar before 8:00 am. NO SOLIDS OR DAIRY.
You must have nothing in your mouth 3 hours prior to your arrival to the surgery centre,
including gum, mints or candy. Please refrain from smoking, You will be instructed to take
your regular medications on the morning of your surgery. These may be taken with sips of
water. Have a shower or bath the night before or the morning of your surgery.
Wear loose comfortable fitting clothing.
Do not wear any face makeup, jewelry, body piercings or nail polish. (Gel/Acrylic Nails do not need to be removed).
Contacts must be removed before surgery.
A responsible adult must be available to pick you up and stay with you for 24 hours after your surgery.
It is against the law to drive a car or operate machinery for 24 hours after a general anesthetic
or sedation.
If your home is not in the Kelowna area, you may need to make arrangements to remain in the
city overnight. Contact your surgeon's office to determine if this is necessary.
Contact your surgeon prior to the day of surgery if your medical condition changes. Example: (Cold, flu, sore throat, fever, confirmed pregnancy or any skin problems such as a rash or infection).
Please leave all your valuables at home as OHSC assumes no responsible for lost or stolen
articles during your stay.
Don’t forget to bring your debit card, charge card (Visa or Master Card) or cash in the event that you need to fill any prescriptions post surgery.
Avoid Alcohol for 24 hours before surgery.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in the cancellation of your surgery. If you have any
